CONTEXT
Nanomakers, a start-up located in Rambouillet (France), designs, produces and sales patented silicon-based nanopowders at an industrial scale by a laser pyrolysis process.
Those nanoparticles are mainly used to increase the specific energy density of lithium-ion batteries and to enhance mechanical properties of high performances materials (metallic alloys, elastomers, ceramics).
Preparation of silicon-based materials for Li-ion batteries is key for the battery market as it dramatically improves their performances, but it still faces technical challenges to achieve very high capacities. It’s also a major challenge for Nanomakers.
MISSION
This internship first challenge will be to prepare silicon-based materials for Li-ion batteries. The intern’s tasks and objectives will be:
• Bibliographic study;
• Sélection of formulations;
• Performing tests in the R&D laboratory;
• Process optimization at lab scale.
A second challenge will be the study of various nanoparticles dispersion stability. In that case, the intern will:
• Prepare sample for analysis;
• Make quality control measurement;
• Compare specifications with the current one and amend them if needed.
